Grade 3-4 Theory group

For students working on ABRSM Grades 3-4 theory. Ideal for those learning an instrument around Grades 4-5.

Important info:

Half-term outline:

  • Week 1 (10th September 2026): Rhythm (demisemiquavers, upbeats, duple/triple/quadruple time, simple and compound time, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8, grouping notes and rests)

  • Week 2 (17th September 2026): Pitch & Major Keys (notes on three ledger lines, octave transposition, keys and scales of E and Ab major)

  • Week 3 (24th September 2026): Minor Scales & Tonic Triads (melodic minor scales, keys and scales of B, G, F#, C, C# and F minor, tonic triads up to 4 sharps/flats)

  • Week 4 (1st October 2026): Intervals (perfect, major and minor intervals)

  • Week 5 (8th October 2026): Terms, Signs & Context (terms and signs, music in context)

  • Week 6 (15th October 2026): Wrap-up & Practice paper
